2.26.11 Vita Flats Meet and Greet

Doug Linkhart, mayoral candidate, stopped by Vita Flats on Valentine’s Day 2011 and spoke to the residents. His real solutions include: Economic Prosperity Common Sense Government and Reshaping Public Safety.

We enjoy Resident Breakfasts every other Wed. morning.  Great food and interesting conversations make for an enjoyable get together.

We will be celebrating Thanksgiving the day after Thanksgiving at Vita Flats.  On Friday, Nov. 26th the residents are having a feast.  Urban Villages is donating the 20-pound turkey and dressing and residents will bring side dishes.  What a wonderful way to get to know new neighbors.

We will have our birthday celebration on the 15th of November.  Each month we celebrate birthdays of the residents.  This month we will sing Happy Birthday to  Bonne Rose (11/4), Irina Nekrasova (11/25), and William Wood (11/29).

The Vita Flats Readers Theatre will meet on Nov. 17th.  We have been meeting each Wednesday and reading one act plays.  There are some very talented actors at Vita!  We are thinking about a performance at Christmas

From the “Witch Is In” sign on the office door to the “Goulish Menu” posted by the kitchen  – it’s apparent that Halloween is near at hand here at Vita Flats.  We are getting ready for our Halloween Potluck Party on October 29th.  Prizes will be awarded for the best costume.

On October 6th, we had an engaging speaker from ElderWatch talk to us about fraud.  A lively discussion followed the presentation.   On Sunday, October 10th Vita Flats celebrated Suzee Q’s birthday.  Suzee is a 2 year old Bichon owned by Vita Resident, Almeda Oliphant.  Almeda served, hot dogs (what else), chili, sloppy joes and assorted salads.  For dessert, we had cake and ice cream.  The Fireside Lounge was full of happy guests.  Why, even Barney (a Persian cat) stopped by for a visit.

This Wednesday we are holding our first Vita Flats’ Readers Theatre meeting.  Organized by former director and actress, Jeanne Nott, our talented members will be reading a one-act play entitled “The Rehearsal.”  We are hoping to make this a once a month venture and perhaps perform for the Holiday Party at Vita.

Our Crafters “Show and Tell” will be held on the 21st at 6:30pm.  Quite a few residents have already signed up to show their artwork, collections and crafts.

The fireplace in our lounge is a great attraction as the weather turns chilly.  Hope to see you on the 16th or 23rd  from 9am to noon at one of our open houses.
